Best GEO Tools for Enterprise Security Reviews: SOC 2, ISO 27001, and SSO (2026)

How to vet GEO and AI visibility vendors against your security checklist: SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, SSO, DPAs. Plus a short guide to the compliance tools that help you pass your own customers' reviews.

Key takeaways

  • "SOC 2 compliant" and "SOC 2 certified" are not the same claim. Ask for the Type II report under NDA and read the audit period and exceptions.
  • Most GEO vendors publish SOC 2 or SSO details on their own comparison pages, which are self-serving. Verify with the vendor's trust center or security team.
  • Check SAML versus OIDC, SCIM provisioning, role-based access, audit logs, data residency, the DPA and the SLA before you sign.
  • Promptwatch is ISO/IEC 27001 certified and GDPR compliant, with SSO on Enterprise. That is rare in this category, but still confirm the details in procurement.
  • The phrase "security review" means two things here: your security team vetting a GEO vendor, and your own company passing customers' reviews. This guide covers both.

Two meanings of a GEO security review

Search for this topic and you get a muddle. Half the results are compliance automation tools like Vanta, Drata and Scytale. The other half are AI visibility vendors boasting about enterprise readiness. They solve different problems.

  1. Vetting a GEO vendor. Your CISO or procurement team wants to know whether a tool that tracks ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity for your brand is safe to connect to your analytics, CMS and crawler logs.
  2. Passing your own reviews. Your customers ask you for SOC 2 or ISO 27001, and you need software to get audit-ready. That is a compliance tool decision, not a GEO one.

The bulk of this guide is about the first. The second gets its own section further down, because the two often land on the same person's desk in the same quarter.

Why security review matters more for GEO tools than for old rank trackers

A classic rank tracker needs a keyword list and maybe a Search Console connection. A modern GEO platform can touch much more: server or CDN crawler logs, visitor analytics scripts, Search Console and Bing data, and CMS credentials if it publishes content for you. That is a real data surface.

There is also an angle people miss. Your buyers research vendors with AI assistants now. Promptwatch's data on software prompts (Sep 28 to Oct 4, 2026) shows docs and help centers earn the largest share of ChatGPT citations by source type, ahead of vendor sites, with review sites and analysts behind them. You can read the numbers in Promptwatch's ChatGPT citation share report for software prompts. My inference, not a figure from the report: a public, crawlable security and trust page is likely to get pulled into answers when a buyer asks an assistant whether your product is safe. So vendor security documentation is also a visibility asset.

The checklist: what to ask every GEO vendor

SOC 2

  • Is it Type I or Type II? Type II covers an audit period; Type I is a point in time.
  • Can you see the report under NDA? Check the audit period, the scope (does it cover the product you will use?) and any exceptions.
  • Is the wording "certified" or "compliant"? SOC 2 is an attestation, not a certificate, and vendors use the words loosely. seoClarity pointed out that one vendor describes its status as "compliant" on some pages and "certification" on others. Ask for the actual report.

ISO 27001

  • Ask for the certificate, the certifying body and the scope statement. A certificate that covers only the company's head office is not much help.
  • ISO 27001 is more common with European and international buyers. SOC 2 is mostly requested by North American ones. If your own customers want one specifically, the other does not substitute.

SSO and access control

  • SAML 2.0 or OIDC? Some tools only support SAML.
  • SCIM provisioning for automatic user offboarding.
  • Role-based access (owner, editor, viewer) and an audit log.
  • Which plan tier gates SSO? It is often Enterprise only.
  • Scoped API keys, so an integration does not get blanket access.

Data handling

  • Data processing agreement and GDPR position.
  • Data residency, if you have regional requirements.
  • Retention and deletion terms.
  • SLA and support response times.

How the main GEO vendors compare

The table below mixes what vendors say about themselves with what third parties noted. Treat everything as a starting list of questions. Vendor comparison pages are written to win deals, and I could not independently verify most of these claims. I also found no public ISO 27001 claims for the vendors other than Promptwatch.

Promptwatch

Promptwatch is the one in this group where ISO/IEC 27001 certification and GDPR compliance are stated outright, which matters if your procurement process starts with an ISO checklist. Beyond the compliance basics, the access model is what a security team usually wants to see: owner, editor and viewer roles, an audit log on Business, Agency Scale and Enterprise, scoped API keys, SSO on Enterprise, and white-label workspaces with branded read-only client access for agencies.

On the feature side it is an end-to-end platform rather than a monitor: real-UI prompt tracking across ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Gemini, Perplexity and others, IP-verified AI crawler logs, visitor analytics, and a Content Agent that can publish to Webflow, Framer or WordPress. That breadth is exactly why the security review matters. Crawler logs come in through Cloudflare, CloudFront, Fastly, Vercel, Netlify and similar integrations, so your team should look at what data leaves your CDN and what stays on it. Pricing starts at $95/month on Essential; confirm current tiers at promptwatch.com/pricing. I did not find SOC 2 details on its public comparison page, so ask for them directly if SOC 2 is a hard requirement.

Profound

Profound is the enterprise name most security teams already know. Its own page says it has SOC 2 Type II and an independent HIPAA assessment, and lists SAML/OIDC SSO, role-based access and automated daily backups. That is a good-looking list. The caveat from independent reviewers is that they did not see the report, and the inconsistent "compliant" versus "certification" wording is a small flag worth clearing up. Ask for the report and read the exceptions.

Peec AI

Peec AI is cheaper and simpler, and it sits at the lighter end for enterprise controls. A competitor's page says it is GDPR compliant with SAML SSO and SOC 2 in progress, and a separate review says its SSO documentation lists SAML 2.0 but not OIDC or SCIM. Per seoClarity, SSO and API access sit on the Enterprise plan, and every plan includes unlimited seats. If you only need SAML and a DPA, it may be enough. If you need SCIM or a finished SOC 2, ask when.

Other enterprise-positioned options

Several others in our catalog position themselves at enterprise buyers, including Evertune, Bluefish AI, Scrunch AI, AthenaHQ and Conductor. I could not verify security attestations for them, so use the checklist above instead of assuming.

Traditional SEO suites as the safe procurement route

Sometimes the easiest security review is the one you already passed. If a vendor like Semrush or Ahrefs is already on your approved list, their AI tracking add-ons may clear procurement faster. The trade-off is depth: these suites generally use fixed prompt sets and have shallower AI-specific data, and they lack features like IP-verified crawler logs.

Weigh that honestly. A faster approval is a real benefit, but a tool that cannot show why you are invisible will not help you fix it.

How to run the review without wasting a month

  1. Send a short questionnaire first. Five questions: SOC 2 report type and period, ISO certificate and scope, SSO protocol and SCIM, DPA and residency, SLA. A vendor that answers in a day is usually organized. One that sends marketing links is telling you something.
  2. Request the report under NDA. Read the scope and the exceptions, not the cover letter.
  3. Decide the integration boundary. Crawler logs, analytics scripts and CMS publishing each need separate approval. Start with prompt tracking, which touches the least, and add the rest after.
  4. Check plan gating. SSO and audit logs often require the top tier. Get the price of that tier before you shortlist, not after.
  5. Write the answers down. You will do this again in twelve months when the SOC 2 period rolls over.

If you need compliance tools for your own customers' reviews

This is the other half of the problem. If enterprise buyers are asking you for SOC 2 or ISO 27001, you need to become audit-ready, and compliance automation software is what most teams use.

SitePoint ranking of SOC 2 software platforms by audit readiness

The roundups I read for this point at the same names, with different ranks:

PlatformFrameworksWhere it gets praised
ScytaleSOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR, HIPAACross-framework mapping, dedicated GRC experts
VantaSOC 2 and moreTrust Center add-on
SecureframeSOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAACheaper at entry level, thorough integrations
DrataSOC 2, ISO 27001Continuous monitoring
SprintoSOC 2, ISO 27001Fast-growing tech companies
SecureSlateISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR, HIPAAPlans from $284/month

Rankings come from vendors' own blogs in several cases (Scytale ranks itself first, for example), so use them as a feature checklist rather than a verdict.

Scytale's guide to SOC 2 platforms for scalable SaaS growth

For ISO 27001 specifically, look for control mapping to SOC 2, NIST and GDPR so you are not doing duplicate work.

Optro's overview of ISO 27001 software tools

Two practical points from the sources. First, if ISO 27001 or HIPAA is on your roadmap within twelve months, start with a platform that supports them, so you do not migrate later. Second, SOC 2 is not a one-time certification. And if your customers ask for SOC 2 specifically, ISO 27001 alone will not satisfy them, even though the underlying controls overlap heavily. One Reddit thread on the subject adds a useful nuance: SSO is not a hard requirement for SOC 2, but it makes audits easier.

What I would do

For a regulated enterprise, I would shortlist on the checklist, not the feature page. Promptwatch is the one I would put through procurement first if ISO 27001 is the gate and you want a platform that also acts on what it finds. Profound is the obvious second name if SOC 2 Type II is non-negotiable, as long as you read the report. Peec AI is fine for lighter requirements. Whichever you pick, get the answers in writing.
