Peec AI vs Rankscale vs ZipTie: Which Lightweight AI Rank Tracker Wins in 2026?

Peec AI, Rankscale and ZipTie all track AI answers without enterprise pricing, but they bill in three different ways. Here is how current pricing, engine coverage and trial terms compare, and which one fits which team.

Key takeaways

  • Peec AI charges a flat monthly fee per plan ($95 for 50 prompts), but Starter, Pro and Advanced all cap you at 3 selected models.
  • Rankscale bills in credits ($99 for 1,200 credits) and lists every engine on every plan, so your cost depends on how you schedule runs.
  • ZipTie is now usage-based, starting around $25.65 a month for a small workload, with every engine priced the same.
  • Many third-party reviews still quote old prices and trial lengths. Verify on each vendor's pricing page before buying.
  • If you need to fix visibility and not just watch it, all three are monitoring tools. Look at an optimization platform such as Promptwatch for that.

Why this comparison is harder than it looks

I expected a quick feature table. Instead, the three tools use three different billing models, and most of the comparison articles online are out of date.

Menra's Rankscale vs ZipTie page says Rankscale's pricing is "not clearly published" and that ZipTie costs $69, $99 or $159 with a 14-day trial. SEOptimer lists Rankscale at $20 a month. None of that matches the live pricing pages today. Rankscale publishes its plans, the lowest monthly tier is $99, and ZipTie has moved to a configurator with a 7-day trial.

Menra's Rankscale vs ZipTie comparison page, which still lists older ZipTie pricing and calls Rankscale pricing unpublished

So this guide uses the vendors' own current pages as the source of truth, and flags where reviews disagree. Prices are monthly, in USD, and can change, so confirm before you commit.

The three tools in one paragraph each

Peec AI

Peec AI is a focused AI visibility tracker aimed at marketing teams. It tracks prompts daily, scores brand perception and sentiment, and lists a wide set of extras on its pricing page: prompt volume scoring, an ads library, AI Shopping with SKU-level tracking, source analytics with fanout overview, a crawlability audit across 40+ bots, and an agent with skills. It says it is trusted by 3,500+ brands and agencies.

One caution. The pricing page does not make clear which plan includes which feature, so check before assuming the $95 tier has everything on that list.

Rankscale

Rankscale goes broad on engines and works on credits. Each engine query costs a fraction of a credit, typically 0.25. Search terms are unlimited and only execution uses credits. It lists ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Mode, AI Overviews, Gemini, DeepSeek, Mistral, Claude and Copilot, and its compare table says 22+ engines. It is built by Rankscale GmbH and says it has 1,000+ active users.

ZipTie

ZipTie is the cheapest way in if your workload is small. It covers ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, Google AI Mode, Microsoft Copilot, Bing AI Overview and Gemini. You build a plan from prompts, engines and check frequency. The site recently moved from ziptie.dev to ziptie.ai, which is why you will see both domains in reviews.

The headline numbers hide the real story. Rankscale's $99 and Peec's $95 look similar, but they buy very different things.

What a defined workload costs

Take a plain scenario: 50 prompts, checked daily, across 3 engines.

  • On Peec Starter, that fits inside the plan at $95, because you get 50 prompts daily across 3 chosen models.
  • On ZipTie, one prompt on one engine for one check costs $0.01. Fifty prompts x 3 engines x 30 days is 4,500 checks, or roughly $45 before any add-ons or discounts. That is my own back-of-envelope math from the published per-check rate, so run it through their configurator.
  • On Rankscale, a run on a standard engine uses about 0.25 credits. The same 4,500 checks would use around 1,125 credits, which nearly exhausts the 1,200 on Pro. Claude and DeepSeek are reported to cost more per run (Geoptie cites 2 credits for Claude and 1 for DeepSeek), so adding them drains the pool fast. That per-engine weighting comes from Geoptie and does not appear in the Rankscale research notes, so confirm it with the vendor.

ZipTie wins on raw cost for small, daily workloads. Peec wins on predictability, because the bill never moves. Rankscale wins when you want to run lots of prompts occasionally, since credits roll over (up to 2x on Pro and Pro+, 3x on Growth and Enterprise) and scheduling runs from hourly to monthly.

Model cap on planPick 3 (Starter, Pro, Advanced)None statedNone, all engines cost the same

The model cap is the biggest practical difference. On Peec, Starter through Advanced all limit you to three models. You can pick ChatGPT, AI Mode and Perplexity, but you cannot also watch Gemini and Copilot without moving to Enterprise, which goes up to 13 LLMs. Mission Growth lists Peec among tools where AI Mode is selectable within an engine cap, and ZipTie as a paid-plan option.

ZipTie's trial is narrower than its paid product. It only covers ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and Copilot, so you cannot test Perplexity, AI Mode or Gemini before paying. Worth knowing if one of those is your main surface.

ZipTie also says engine availability depends on the project's country, and Rankscale lists all regions on all plans. If you track many markets, that matters. Peec's multi-country support only shows up from the Advanced tier.

How many sources do the engines actually cite?

This affects how you read any tracker's output. Promptwatch's Average Sources Per Response report, built from real AI interface monitoring, shows ChatGPT citing about 5 sources per web-search answer, Google AI Overviews about 10, and Perplexity almost exactly 10 every day. Copilot swung from under 2 to nearly 17 sources within a few weeks before settling low.

Three practical consequences for a lightweight tracker:

  • ChatGPT has few citation slots, so each one is contested and a single lost citation moves your numbers.
  • Perplexity is the steadiest engine, which makes it a good test bench for measuring the effect of your own content changes.
  • Copilot is volatile. Judge it on monthly trends, not weekly snapshots.

If you are choosing which 3 engines to select on Peec, or which to schedule most often on Rankscale, that is a reasonable starting point.

Features that separate them

Peec AI: depth on brand perception

Peec's strength is the diagnostic layer. Brand perception, objections and fact-checking of AI claims, gap analysis and recommended actions all sit on the pricing page. ZipTie's own blog even praises Peec's conversational prompt tracking and source attribution, which is notable since ZipTie is a competitor (though that post is vendor-written and openly ranks ZipTie first). Tim Soulo's Peec alternatives roundup makes a similar point: if AI visibility is your only concern, Peec is more focused and gives more prompts per dollar than suite tools.

Rankscale: breadth and analytics

Rankscale includes sentiment, citations, competitor benchmarking, custom dashboards, Looker Studio and query fanout. Pro+ adds REST API access and 5 prompt researches per month. Growth adds white-label options, which is why it gets recommended for agencies. Dashboards scale from 10 on Pro to 100 on Enterprise, and page audits from 50 to 200.

ZipTie: no seat tax

ZipTie never bills for seats, projects, competitors, exports, client reports, share links or Search Console. Branded PDF client reports are included on every plan. AI Overviews and Bing AI Overview checks also capture the top 10 organic results for your domain at no extra cost. Add-ons are priced separately: UGC Impact Analysis (Reddit and YouTube citations) adds 80% to the plan price, Content Generation is $20 a month per context, and API and MCP access is $10 a month on paid plans.

Prompt slots are pooled across a workspace in daily, weekly and monthly buckets. That is handy for agencies. ZipTie's own example has 10 clients at 50 weekly prompts each across all 7 engines costing $130.72 a month.

Which one should you pick?

Your situationBest fitWhy
Solo marketer or small SaaS watching ChatGPT, AI Overviews and PerplexityZipTieLowest cost at small scale, 7-day trial
In-house brand team that wants a fixed monthly bill and brand perception dataPeec AIFlat pricing, unlimited users, daily tracking
Agency or multi-market brand needing many engines and localesRankscaleBroad engine list, all regions, credit rollover
Agency with many small clientsZipTiePooled prompts, no per-client or seat charges
Team that needs more than 3 models without going EnterpriseZipTie or RankscalePeec caps Starter through Advanced at 3

My own take: for most small teams, start with ZipTie's trial if you only care about the big engines, and with Peec if you want the cleanest brand-perception reporting. Rankscale is the one I would only choose if breadth across locales or lesser-known engines is a real requirement, because credit weighting makes budgeting harder.

Where lightweight trackers stop

All three answer one question: is my brand showing up? None of them is built to tell you why in terms of crawler behaviour, or to write and publish the fix. If you reach that point, a fuller platform like Promptwatch adds IP-verified AI crawler logs, visitor analytics, a content gap analysis and an agent that drafts and publishes content, then checks whether the new pages got cited.

It is more expensive (Essential starts at $95 a month, Professional at $245), so it only makes sense once monitoring alone stops being enough. For a wider view of the category, the directories at ai-rank-tools.com and bestgeosoftware.com list more options.

Pitfalls to check before you pay

  • Third-party prices are stale. Menra, SEOptimer and Geoptie all carry older figures for at least one of these tools. Rankscale's $20 per month figure from SEOptimer likely refers to an Essentials tier billed yearly, since the live monthly floor is $99.
  • Trial lengths differ from what reviews say. ZipTie's is 7 days now, not 14.
  • Rankscale's "answers" count assumes 0.25 credits per query. Heavier engines shrink it.
  • Peec's 3-model cap applies on Starter, Pro and Advanced.
  • ZipTie's cost climbs with frequency. Moving from weekly to daily checks multiplies your bill roughly four times.
  • Vendor comparison posts are biased. ZipTie's blog ranks ZipTie first, and Geoptie's Rankscale piece pushes Geoptie.

Geoptie's Rankscale alternatives article, which explains Rankscale's per-engine credit weighting

Verdict

No single winner. ZipTie wins on entry price and flexibility, Peec AI wins on predictability and brand-perception depth, and Rankscale wins on breadth. Pick by workload: write down your prompt count, engines and check frequency, price that in each tool, and use the free trials on Rankscale and ZipTie (and ask Peec about its trial) before committing for a year.
