Key takeaways
- Headline prices mislead. Otterly's $29 plan is the cheapest sticker, but at about $1.93 per prompt it is not the cheapest way to track a prompt.
- At published entry tiers, cost per tracked prompt runs from about $0.86 (Scrunch) to $3.96 (Semrush). Peec Starter is $1.90, Otterly Lite $1.93, Profound Starter $1.98.
- Profound's $99 Starter is ChatGPT-only and billed annually. Multi-engine tracking starts at $399.
- Peec's current prices are $95, $245 and $495. Older articles quoting EUR 70, 89 or 199 are stale.
- Prompt count understates what you measure, because one prompt can trigger several ChatGPT web searches behind the scenes.
Why comparing prices is harder than it looks
Every vendor in this category meters something different. Otterly counts prompts. Peec counts prompts but lets you pick three models. Profound ties price to prompts and engines together. Semrush charges per domain. AthenaHQ sells credits. So a table of monthly prices tells you very little until you convert everything into one unit.
The unit most buyers actually care about is cost per tracked prompt, with an engine count next to it. If you only need ChatGPT citation tracking, you are paying for engines you may not use on some plans. If you need four or five engines, a ChatGPT-only plan is a trap.
The figures below come from vendor pricing pages as compiled by several 2026 comparison articles. I verified Peec's numbers against its live pricing page. I did not independently check Otterly, Profound or Scrunch, so confirm those on the vendor sites before you buy.
Published prices at a glance (2026)
| Tool | Published monthly prices | What the price meters | Engines at entry |
|---|---|---|---|
| Otterly.AI | $29 / $189 / $489; Enterprise from $1,000 | Prompts: 15 / 100 / 400 | 4 (ChatGPT, AI Overviews, Perplexity, Copilot) |
| Peec AI | $95 / $245 / $495; Enterprise custom | Prompts: 50 / 150 / 350 | 3 of your choice |
| Profound | $99 and $399, annual billing only | 50 prompts ChatGPT-only; 100 prompts on 3 engines | 1 on Starter, 3 on Growth |
| Scrunch | $300 / $500 | 350 custom prompts on Starter | Up to 7 |
| Semrush AI Visibility | $99 per domain | 25 prompts | 4 |
| AthenaHQ | Free, then $295 | Credits (1 credit = 1 AI response) | Multiple |
| Ahrefs Brand Radar | $398 / $699 on product page; from $199 on main pricing page | Platform bundles | Select or all |
Two caveats. Semrush's AI toolkit sits on top of a Pro, Guru or Business plan, so it can't be bought standalone. And Ahrefs lists different prices on two of its own pages, so ask which one applies to you.

Cost per tracked prompt
Here is the same data converted into a single number. These are list prices at entry tiers, divided by included prompts.
| Tool and tier | Monthly price | Prompts | Cost per prompt |
|---|---|---|---|
| Scrunch Starter | $300 | 350 | about $0.86 |
| Peec AI Advanced | $495 | 350 | $1.41 |
| Peec AI Pro | $245 | 150 | $1.63 |
| Otterly Premium | $489 | 400 | about $1.22 |
| Otterly Standard | $189 | 100 | about $1.89 |
| Peec AI Starter | $95 | 50 | $1.90 |
| Otterly Lite | $29 | 15 | about $1.93 |
| Profound Starter | $99 | 50 | $1.98 |
| Semrush Base | $99 | 25 | $3.96 |
The pattern is clear. The cheapest headline (Otterly at $29) is nowhere near the cheapest prompt, and the most expensive entry headline (Scrunch at $300) is the cheapest per prompt. Moving from Otterly Lite to Standard buys volume, not a lower rate. Only Premium drops the unit cost in a meaningful way.
Scrunch's number needs a footnote: its prompts are custom prompts, and it adds 1,000 included industry prompts on top. Different vendors also use different engine sets, which is where the next section matters.
Otterly
Otterly is the easiest place to start. Lite is $29 a month for 15 prompts across ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Copilot, with daily tracking and unlimited team members. Annual billing saves about 15%, and 100 extra prompts cost $99. It is a good fit for a solo marketer who wants to see whether ChatGPT mentions the brand at all.
Otterly.AI

The catch comes when you want engines outside those four. Add-ons for extra engines push the all-in price up. One comparison put Otterly Lite with two add-ons at $47 and about $3.13 per prompt, and Standard with two add-ons at $307 and about $3.07 per prompt. Stay inside the four included engines and Otterly looks good. Step outside and it gets expensive.
Peec AI
Peec's live pricing page lists Starter at $95 (50 prompts, 3 models, 1 project, 1 country, 4,500 AI answers a month), Pro at $245 (150 prompts, 2 projects, 3 countries, 13,500 answers) and Advanced at $495 (350 prompts, 5 projects, Looker Studio, 31,500 answers). Every plan has unlimited users, competitors and languages. Enterprise is custom, with unlimited prompts, up to 13 models, API access and SSO.
The metering is worth understanding. Answers per month equal prompts times models times 30 days, so 50 x 3 x 30 gives 4,500. That works out to about $0.021 per answer on Starter. Annual billing brings the prices to roughly $80, $205 and $420.
One limit to know: on self-serve plans you choose from ChatGPT, AI Mode, AI Overviews, Copilot, Gemini and Naver AI. Perplexity, Claude, Grok and DeepSeek are Enterprise only. If you need Claude tracked, Peec is not the cheap option.
Ignore the older numbers you will find floating around. WorkDuo lists EUR 89, 199 and 499+, and Ayzeo lists EUR 70, 180 and 360. Neither matches the current page.
Profound
Profound is the category's best-funded name, reportedly valued at $1B after a Series C in February 2026. Its published self-serve entry is $99 a month, billed annually only. That plan tracks 50 prompts on ChatGPT and nothing else, with a single seat. Three engines start at $399 for roughly 100 prompts, and the enterprise tier, reported at $2,000+ a month, opens up 11 platforms and Prompt Volumes.
Profound

Sources disagree on how Profound prices itself. One comparison says there is no self-serve price at all and only a free 7-day trial then custom quotes, while others publish the $99 and $399 figures. Treat Profound as a number you confirm with sales. Agencies should also note that full client workspaces reportedly run $399 each, so costs scale linearly with client count.
For a ChatGPT-only buyer the $99 Starter is a fair price per prompt at $1.98. It becomes a worse deal the moment you need a second engine.
Scrunch, Semrush, AthenaHQ and Ahrefs
Scrunch is the surprise on a per-prompt basis. 350 prompts for $300 is about $0.86 each, with up to seven engines on the US-served plan.

Semrush is the most expensive per prompt at $3.96 (25 prompts for $99 per domain), but it makes sense if you already live in Semrush and want AI tracking beside data you use daily, with no second login.
AthenaHQ has a free tier, then $295 for Starter. One breakdown put it at $7.38 per prompt for 40 prompts, the highest in the group, though it does include Claude on that plan.
Ahrefs Brand Radar is priced by platform bundle and region, and the quoted figures change depending on the page and country. If you already pay for Ahrefs it is worth a look.

Cost per engine matters as much as cost per prompt
Price per prompt hides how many engines each prompt runs on. Peec runs your prompts on three models you pick, with extra models costing $30 to $140 a month depending on plan, up to eleven or more on Enterprise. Profound's $99 Starter runs ChatGPT only. Otterly runs four engines on every plan.
If ChatGPT is the only engine you care about, normalize the price by engines. A $95 Peec Starter that you point at one model is not the best use of that plan. A $99 Profound Starter that tracks only ChatGPT is fully used.
| If you need | Likely cheapest fit |
|---|---|
| ChatGPT plus 3 other engines, few prompts | Otterly Lite or Standard |
| 50 to 350 prompts, 3 chosen models, many seats | Peec AI |
| ChatGPT only, enterprise-style reporting | Profound Starter |
| Maximum prompts per dollar | Scrunch |
| AI tracking inside an existing SEO suite | Semrush or Ahrefs |
| Claude tracking on a self-serve plan | AthenaHQ, Trakkr or Rankscale |
Why prompt counts understate what you are measuring
Prompt-based pricing has a quirk. When ChatGPT answers a prompt with web search, it often runs several background searches, called query fanouts. Promptwatch Data measured ChatGPT's fanout falling from 2.15 searches per response in early December 2025 to about 1.84 in early March 2026, and then reading 1.0 in April after a data gap (ChatGPT query fanouts report). So one tracked prompt can represent more than one search, but the exact number moves around.
Citation counts vary by engine too. In Promptwatch's data, ChatGPT cites about 5 sources per web-search answer, Google AI Overviews about 10, and Perplexity almost exactly 10 (average sources per response). A prompt tracked on Perplexity therefore returns more citation data than the same prompt on ChatGPT, for the same price.
The practical upshot: do not compare tools only by prompt count. Look at how much each tracked prompt tells you.
What the price does not include
Most tools in this price range are reporting products. They tell you whether you were cited. Fewer help you fix it.
- Profound's higher tiers add agents that generate and optimize content.
- Otterly offers GEO audits and recommendations.
- Peec offers analytics and recommendations, but no content execution.
- Scrunch and most low-cost trackers stop at monitoring.
Also check what is absent from the plan: crawler logs, AI traffic analytics and CMS publishing. If you want to know which AI bots actually read your pages and what traffic they send, a prompt tracker alone will not tell you.
Tools like Promptwatch cover that wider stack. Its Essential plan is $95 a month for 50 prompts, all AI models, site audit, crawler logs and content gap analysis, which puts it at the same per-prompt level as Peec Starter while including more than tracking. Business is $579 and adds the Content Agent. Always confirm on promptwatch.com/pricing.

For a broader view of the category, the GEO software directory at bestgeosoftware.com lists more options, and the AI rank tracking directory covers trackers specifically.
How to pick without overpaying
- Count the prompts you need. A realistic starter set is 30 to 50 prompts across your category, brand and comparison queries. Do not buy 350 on day one.
- List the engines that matter. For most B2B teams that is ChatGPT, AI Overviews and Perplexity. Add Claude or Gemini only if your buyers use them.
- Check the billing terms. Profound's $99 is annual only, and Peec's lowest figures assume annual billing.
- Price the add-ons. Extra engines, extra prompt packs and extra client workspaces are where tools drift from their sticker price.
- Decide whether you need action tooling. If you are the one writing the fixes, a plain tracker is fine. If not, pay for the layer that does the work.

That comparison page is a good example of why you should check dates. It quotes Peec in euros at figures that no longer match Peec's live page, so verify any third-party price against the vendor.
Bottom line
If you only want to see whether ChatGPT names your brand, Otterly Lite at $29 or Profound Starter at $99 will do. If you want the most prompts per dollar, Scrunch wins on paper. If you want a clean mid-market tracker with unlimited seats, Peec at $95 to $495 is the straightforward pick. And if the real goal is more AI-driven traffic rather than a dashboard, budget for the plan that includes crawler data and content execution, not the cheapest sticker.
